The children will start this term by looking at London and the popular landmarks that attract tourists. The children will sketch and research each landmark. This will then lead into the Great Fire of London and what happened to the city after this historical event. The displays on the walls will show what we have learnt and our role play area will be a Fire Station where the children will act out different scenarios and dress up as different characters. Within literacy, particular attention this term will be on letter recognition and formation and this will be done in many different ways including mark making, in the paints, sand, messy play and materials found outside. In Maths, they will be exploring shape, patterns and number recognition. We will explore seasons, days of the week and months of the year and start to look at telling the time. There are lots of opportunities for developing our literacy and numeracy skills throughout this topic so keep your eyes peeled on our displays and around the classroom for the activities we have done. Children will also use the Ipad’s to create, produce and communicate their idea’s.
